The Practice Charter

Anniesland Medical Practice is committed to giving its patients the highest quality service. This is best achieved by working together - Help us to help you.

All patients will be treated as individuals and given courtesy and respect at all time regardless of age, sex, religious beliefs and ethnic origin.

Anything that is discussed with a doctor, nurse or receptionist and anything written in patients notes is kept secure and confidential. Patients have a right to see their own records, subject to limitations of the law.

The doctors, nurses and other health care workers at Anniesland Medical Centre will discuss with patients the most appropriate care and if necessary make a referral to other doctors and nurses, with the patient's agreement and understanding.

Anniesland Medical Practice will help patients to understand their own health and illness. This includes understanding any treatment and its side effects, how to prevent illness from returning or worsening and advice on ways the patient may treat themselves without the help of a doctor.

The practice is committed to striving towards improving the quality of care given to our patients by working with other health professionals from the community trust, hospitals, social services and voluntary services.

Patients who need to be seen urgently can expect to be given an urgent appointment with a doctor – not necessarily your own registered GP - within one working day. The practice aims to offer routine appointments within three working days

The practice will offer all new patients a health check when they register with the practice and patients suffering from a Chronic Disease will be offered regular reviews

The doctors endeavour to see their patients on time, but, at least, within thirty minutes of their appointment time. However, should there be an additional delay, you will be advised of the reason by the receptionists

What we ask of you

  • That you treat all practice staff with courtesy.
  • That you should work with the practice to keep yourself as healthy as possible by following advice from the doctors and staff.
  • That you attend all your appointments on time.
  • Should you need to cancel your appointment, to give as much notice as possible.
  • That housecalls are only requested for those that are too ill or disabled to attend the surgery.
  • That you allow at least 24 hours for the preparation of a repeat prescription

Violence Statement

In the rare event of a patient being violent or threateningly abusive to staff or other people in the surgery, we may call the police, and we may ask the Health Board to remove you from our list. There is a special GP practice in the city to which violent patients will be referred.
